I have been practicing yoga for nearly 30 years, undertaking my teacher training in 2009 and opening The Yoga Practice in 2012. Since then, I have loved teaching every class.
My foundation training was an 18-month Hatha/Vinyasa teacher certification with The Yoga Space with my continued development and teaching philosophy drawing from a broad spectrum of Yoga, Eastern movement, Mindfulness and Meditation traditions. I am particularly influenced by Insight Yoga, Yin, Vinni Yoga and Qigong and have a committed continuing interest to these paths. I have undertaken additional teacher development in these areas with inspiring international teachers and leaders, in particular, Sarah & Ty Powers - Insight Yoga & Buddhist Meditation; Paul Grilley – Founder of Yin Yoga; and Donna Farhi. I have also completed Yoga Therapy for Breast cancer and Lymphoedema workshops with Annette Louden and Yoga for Pain Care training and I am a certified practitioner with Yoga for Pain Care, Australia.
Alongside this is a growing curiosity and commitment to Insight and Mindfulness meditation. I completed my Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) teaching certification with the Mindfulness Teaching Institute of Australia (MTIA) in 2015. I love integrating what I am discovering into my practice and teaching.
My commitment as a teacher is for my students to take their practice beyond the studio and into their daily lives.
My Yoga Journey began in 2012 with Josie at The Yoga Practice, where I was taking time out from an active lifestyle and allowing my body to heal. My love for yoga has blossomed ever since.
From there, I decided to explore Yoga and my own practice deeper by
completing my Hatha/Vinyasa Teacher training at The Yoga Space here in Perth, including an 8-week Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction course.
I am drawn to Yoga as it allows us space to explore what’s going on in our bodies and in our lives. Our practice is forever changing and so much can be learnt from the that. At this moment in time I am drawn to gentler practice such as restorative or Yin Yoga.
When I’m not practicing Yoga I’m usually spending time with my family & friends, my pets and enjoying living in the hills walking on nearby trails.
